Woah! We're half way there!

Woah --oah! Living on a Prayer!

If I could get videos to download I would show you an adorable video of Jed after Chris started singing that song in the shower. Jed picked up a string of pop-lock beads and started strumming them like a guitar and bopping around the living room going "Woah! Woah!" and head-banging. No joke, my kid head bangs when he likes the music.

In fact, just yesterday at church he was sound asleep in my arms and as soon as the worship band hit the first up-beat note of the worship set, Jed's eyes flung open and he started nodding his head to the beat. If this kid doesn't have a guitar or other instrument in his hands, he acts like he has one. I have seen adults with less air guitar skills.

So, instead of starting with that video, we'll start with my favorite picture from Criag, Jesse, and Rocco's visit to Southern, IL. Our friends Isaac, Amanda, and Peaceful also came up from KY so we had a truly cross-cultural day for ourselves. It looks like maybe Rocco is singing peaceful a little Bon Jovi himself, but I think we'll entitle it: MMM! What's for lunch?

These two have already been betrothed to each other, so if anyone has other ideas for trying to set something up with these adorable kids, sorry, they're taken.

And here's where Jed prefers to be sitting on Dada's lap with a ukelele or watching a little Star Wars. He has now figured out the light saber and really likes to swing around his baseball bat or sandbox toys and make "zshoom, zshoom" sound effects. When I was sharing this with my mother, she said "It sure shows the difference between boys and girls, huh? You would have been terrified!" I think she's right. I didn't get up the courage to watch Star Wars until I was in high school. Jed brings me the movies and grunts and points at the TV.

Jed's other favorite movie is Baby Einstein's First Signs. I think he likes it so much because it taught him how to sign "Daddy". He will bring me the video and do the sign saying "Dada, Dada" until I put the video in. He does the sign for mommy, but still says "Dada, Dada!" Oh well, someday.
And here is one of Jed's other new discoveries. Chris put safety locks on two cabinets in the kitchen: the one with the cleaning supplies and the one with all Jed's favorite food. He quickly realized that that little white thing was what was holding him back, so he'd reach up with his free hand and pull down on it. So much for child-proof! Here is what happened when he got into the cabinet. He found a can of tuna and when Chris said "Whatcha got? A can of tuna?" Jed started bopping around the kitchen with the can of tuna and saying in a sing-songy voice "Tuna, tuna! Tuna, tuna!"

Jed has started enjoying using a fork and spoon by himself. He's already getting a lot better at it, but here was one of his first attempts with penne pasta and marinara sauce.

Now, here are some pictures from our camping trip with the Adamow extended family. I packed for the trip and picked Chris up from work on the way out of town. Now, I am the master-packer in our family and always put the bags together and get things organized to leave, but Chris is always my brain and remembers all the things I would forget. Hence, since Chris wasn't there, we didn't have any toiletries (which I packed carefully but forgot to get into the car) or any instruments for Jed. By the second day, he had had enough of that! We walked out of the camper early in the morning before anyone else was up and he walked straight to this anchor rope for the screen and started playing guitar. He sang and danced and played for at least 15 minutes. We have a cute video of this, too.

Apparently I didn't inspect Jed's clothes very well because when I packed, I put in these pants that Grandma Twidell found him at a garage sale. Cute, but folded so you couldn't see the holes in the behind. They suckered her out of a dollar! Besides this, Jed wet through his jeans that were his backup pair of pants on the first day, so Jed had to wear these for 2 days. Good thing it's camping!
He found his sun hat in the bottom of his stroller after Grandpa Adamow took him for a walk and decided that he needed a little extra protection. You can never be too careful.
And here are a few pictures of goodbyes. Jed loves kisses! We had a meal at Denny's that afternoon and then had to hit the road, but not before Jed got some loving from everyone.

Grandma Adamow
Aunt Donna

Aunt Candy
Aunt Amy

Uncle Ken (who didn't get a kiss by the way. Just a look like 'you want me to kiss him with that mustache?!')

Grandpa Adamow
Aunt Candy again

Great-grandpa Adamow

Grandpa Adamow again

The Adamows minus Uncle Jeff. He had to leave early to work at the fire house.

And our family with Great-Grandpa.
After our visit with the Adamows, we had our friends Seare, Selam, Abeba, and Heebal over for dinner. Heebal couldn't decide whether he liked Jed or was jealous of him, but here was a time where he liked him :)

And finally an update on our little one. Yep, we are halfway there as the title of our blog says. It's hard to believe it, but I'm excited. This pregnancy is going a lot faster for me than my first one -- as anyone with two or more kids has told me it would. We got to see our baby in the ultrasounds but it didn't give us a good profile, just a lot of creepy front shots that made it look a bit like an alien. But, when people ask "What are you having?" I am quick to answer "a human!"
Thanks for loving us and for checking out our blog. Stay tuned in a week or two for pics from our trip to St. Louis to visit friends and a visit from Aunt Valerie, Uncle Paul and Joshua next weekend! Woohoo! Love you all!
