This is the look of concentration for diaper changes. It either means: 'this is a really poopy one and I don't want to get it everywhere' or 'I am trying really hard not to poke my firstborn with these diaper pins'.
Here is a backwards look at one of my favorite things. Sorry if you think I'm a sadistic Mom or something, but Jed's cry and pouty face are purely adorable. So, I thought I'd post you a play-by-play (or pic-by-pic) if you will.

And now, what Jed looks like when he's in a good mood, lately. His expressions are getting more and more defined and you can tell that he's identifying more and more of the world around him. His development astounds me.
Here's the start of some pictures of a hike that I describe later in the blog:

Diaper changing in the woods!!! Jed is totally embracing his parents' lifestyle right now.
Here's some pictures of him at the cottage:

And here is what I wrote before I found out that the click-and-drag wasn't working properly. This would have been the beginning of the blog:
Our little apple is getting so much bigger! I just retired all of his 0-3 month clothes this week -- sniff! I'm definitely not one of those mothers who wishes her kid would slow down growing for her own selfish pleasure. I've loved watching Jed grow and learn new stuff, but there was a bit of melancholy as I packed away all those little things. He is probably around 14 lbs. by now and that is exciting to see -- especially when he went to visit his friend, Bhawit, who is about 1/2 his weight. I was trying to imagine what it would have been like to have a baby that small :) So, I thought I'd dedicate this blog to all the new things that Jed is learning.
We went on our first family vacation a week and a half ago and here are some pictures from that trip. (Look above and below)
We took Jed to the cottage where Chris and I spent our wedding night -- a little spot in the middle of nowhere -- and just relaxed for a few nights.
Here we have some pictures of our only planned event -- a day of hiking at Mississippi Palasaides. Unfortunately I got stung by some kind of wasp or bee within the first 1/2 mile of our hikes so we didn't get very far. Still, Chris got some pictures before we had to turn back:
(These are the ones that are above)
This is just a cute picture that got out of order somehow. Notice the spit bubbles. He never leaves home without them.
There's nothing better in life than when a baby falls asleep in your arms. I say that now as I try to write and edit this blog one-handed with a tired, hungry, fussy baby on my other arm-- eating and trying to stay awake. Jed can be a stubborn one despite all his outward sweetness.
This picture shows what happens when Daddy changes a diaper and forgets to snap the onesie before putting the pants back on. There is no way those pants are coming back off again, so Jed gets the wrestler look until the next diaper change.
Here he is chilling in his swing. This smile would be the look that Jed is practicing to melt hearts and get his way. Start gearing up, family! We can't wait to see you all again in just 2 more weeks. What fun it has been to be sharing this time with all of you. I am going to try to put up one more blog with some videos we have taken of Jed. Another technical difficulty erased all of our videos from our camera -- we had quite a few -- but we've started over. Luckily, we had the ones of his first day saved on Chris' computer, so it's not as bad as it could have been. I guess we shouldn't complain at all. 100 years ago, we would have been lucky to have 2 pictures of him as a baby, let alone videos. In fact, since the last few frustrations, I'm thinking it would be nice to go back there. Still, it shows how much I love you all and want to share our son with you that I brave the world of modern technology at all -- even as spotty as all my blogging has been. I'm honestly trying for Jed's and all of your sakes. We love you all!
What a wonderful blog! Dispite all of your techno difficulties. And Jed is such an adorable little guy! I hope we can meet him when you guys are up here next time.
