Now that we have had over 6 weeks of parenting 2 boys, I am saying with enthusiasm that I love being their Mom! These two guys are such a blessing and we have very much enjoyed getting to know them and introducing them to all our friends and family. Since the last blog, we have had a visit from Grandpa and Grandma Adamow and Aunt Amy and we have spent a whirlwind 2 weeks touring our family and friends up north to introduce Baby Abe to everyone. It was an incredible time and only a little bit exhausting.
Abe continued to sleep well, but got a pretty bad cold. On one day, he was wheezing a little in his breathing and we got nervous, so we started looking for a doctor in the Chicago area that took our insurance. No luck. We tried telling several doctors that we would just pay cash for a visit. No luck. Everyone told us that they couldn't take us as patients without insurance unless we were transferring to their practice. So, we had to head to the emergency room for a doctor to tell us that our son was congested and hand us a $300 booger-sucker. Little did it matter that we already have 2 of them at home (which Jed uses for drum sticks or a microphone depending on what the situation calls for). But, it was worth it to know that Abe didn't have pneumonia or something.
And now, on to the pictures. I don't fool myself. I know that you log on to see the cute kids, not to read my witty remarks :)
We'll start with an updated family picture.
Chris brought along a camera on one of our first family trips to the park. He's been enjoying taking more artistic pictures and I think he's getting pretty good.

Jed at the bottom of one of his favorite things -- the slide!
And here are a few close-ups of the new addition. He really is a man of many faces, so we'll have to try to capture some more of them. Abe is starting to look intently at people and smiles sometimes now and it seems like every day I see a new expression on his face.

Here are the brothers. Jed still really loves Abe and wants to hug and kiss him a lot. One of his other favorite things is "dancing" with him. He holds Abe's hands and bounces while chanting 'tuna, tuna' over and over. If you're not familiar with the "tuna dance," see one of the earlier blogs for an explanation and pictures.
The classics: No blog is complete without a Jed-in-a-Hat picture . . .
or a Jed-with-a-Musical-Instrument picture.

The drums are Unc' Azeem's and Jed wants to play them at least twice a day while we are at Grandma Lee and Papa Jim's.
And now, some evidence to support the title of this blog. Here you have Exhibit A: Who determined what part of the Sit & Spin you are actually supposed to sit on?
Exibit B: 3 boys can have a lot of fun in a golf cart.
Exhibit C: Older boys never outgrow the fun. Grandpa loves to take little boys for rides on the lawn mower, but Jed was a little nervous about the noise . . . maybe next time.
Exhibit D: Boys give great hugs!

Exhibit E: Boys love to play games on the floor. This is Grandma Margaret's toy garage. it has lasted for over 30 years of kids playing with it.
Exhibit F: Boys love jumping!
Exhibit G: Boys are fun to play horsey with.

Exhibit G: Boys like stickers! . . . and snuggling.

Exhibit H: Boys are very comfy to take naps with.

Exhibit I: The more boys the merrier! We had Jed's 3 friends over which totaled 5 boys in the house at once. Crazy, but fun.
Exhibit J: Boys are fun to read with . . . and snuggle!
So, I rest my case. A disclaimer: I believe that girls are fun, too, but I just don't have as much personal experience in that arena. Ask my sister, Caroline, though. She can tell you all about how much fun Jed's cousin, Naomi, is.
And finally, some photos of us and our family and friends enjoying the boys.

Grandma and Grandpa Adamow and Aunt Amy's visit.

My dear friend, Vivian, giving Abe a blessing.
Our visit with Great-Grandma and Grandpa Twidell.
Our visit with Papa Bill.

Hanging with Aunt Emmy. Aunt Emmy was on Spring Break during our visit and got a lot of Jed time!
Our visit to Great-Grandpa Adamow's.

Auntie Donna: synonymous with 'cookies' to Jed!
A visit from Great Grandma and Grandpa Boryla.

Meeting Baby Edward. Chris' long-time friend, Dennis and his wife, Julie had their first baby just a few weeks before Abe was born. But, as you can see, he got a big jump on Abe in size:)

So, all told, it was a great trip with just a few hiccups. One was the aforementioned hospital visit and the other was a boy scout spaghetti dinner where Jed worked a very willing crowd of family members and finagled about 6 times his usual daily allotment of sugary snacks. Normal: 1 cookie. Spaghetti Dinner: 2 cookies, ice cream, a sucker, half a doughnut, and a small Kit-Kat bar. The day after was really rough! It was good proof, though, that small children and large amounts of sugar shouldn't mix:)
Thanks to all of you who had us over, fed us dinner, and held and played with our boys. What a blessing you all are to us! We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Don't get your hopes up for another blog for a while. We'll be packing and getting ready to move in another 7 weeks. If I get one out before Minneapolis, you can consider it a miracle. So, until then, we love you all!
