Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I thought I'd start you out with what you came to see: pictures of our handsome son. He has, I'm afraid, learned his Dad's trick of blowing spit bubbles. I guess some people think it's cute. Most everything that babies do is cute, but imagine it on a 27-year-old man and it loses some of its charm :)

We've been having an awesome time lately with our boy. We went on a twelve-night whirlwind trip to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We spent 4 nights at Chris' parents, 4 nights at my parents, and 4 nights at my sister, Valerie's.

Jed is very blessed to have many of his grandparents still alive to be excited about him. Here we are with my Dad's parents -- 4 generations!

And here I am with Valerie and Caroline -- 3 sisters, 3 kids. The cousins already get along great! We'll see how that continues as they get older, their personalities come through, and they get more comfortable with each other. Hopefully they won't fight as much as their mothers did, but hopefully they will love each other just as much as we love each other.

This is my Mom's Dad, Grandpa Bill. Another 4 generation picture.

Here's the baby swap. I have my nephew, Joshua, and Valerie has Jed. These two boys are equally wonderful, but completely different as you will see in a future picture. I find it funny when people comment on Jed's hair because I've seen Joshua -- he looks like an ad for hair growth formula :) They have very different personalities, too. This picture shows it. Joshua needs to look out and see everything. He's always go, go, go. Jed is so laid back and just melts into your arms most of the time. Finally, there's the difference in size. Joshua is exactly a month older than Jed, but is at least a pound lighter. Jed was weighed in yesterday at 13lbs. 2 oz. I'm excited to watch these two grow up together.

Here is Jed with his great-grandpa Adamow. This is Grandpa Adamow's first great-grandchild, so it's pretty exciting to be able to be a part of this.

And here are all the Adamow men. From the left: Jeff (Chris' brother), Chris, Great-Grandpa Adamow, Grandpa Adamow, Great-Uncle Al, and Al's son, Mikey.

This is Great-Aunt Donna. It was getting chilly in the garage, so Jed's fancy head-gear is actually a blanket just trying to keep him warm.

And here's Great-Aunt Candy. Again, Jed is a special baby in this family because he's the first of his generation. It's pretty fun to be part of that history.

This is Uncle Jeff. Of all the family, we think that Jed looks and is built the most like Uncle Jeff . . . time will tell. He does have a lot of fireman gear because Uncle Jeff and his Great-Uncle Ken are both firefighters.

And here's probably my favorite picture. Right before we left Valerie's house, I realized we didn't have a picture of the two babies together, so I set Jed down where I had put Joshua to change his diaper and here they both are. They seem to get along well together, don't they?
So that's it from the Adamows. Jed is a bit crabby today because of his shots yesterday. No one warns you about having to hold down your own baby's legs while someone shoots the equivalent of a javelin into their tiny legs. . . just one more thing about being a Mom that I'm learning. It's ALL worth it!

  1. I like the spit bubbles comment. Joshua does that too, but I have to admit that I've never seen Paul do it. Actually I've never seen Chris do it either, so maybe you're just joking. :)
